About the Press

The INED publishing house is an instrument of books inside and outside the TE and includes finished research, both by national and foreign authors, whether individual or collective works, in the areas of knowledge of public law and social sciences. Its recipients are the academic communities and decision makers, in the field of democratic institutions and electoral processes, as well as the general public.

INED has published books on democracy, citizenship and electoral rights; electoral regulations and organizations; and electoral actors and behavior, which are also available in the institutional repository. These publications adhere to the powers established by Law 5 of 2016, Organic of the Electoral Tribunal, regarding “research, teaching and democratic culture” and functions related to the research area. The publisher will be open to publishing research by interested authors, as long as they comply with the editorial standards required by the INED for the publication of books, and address topics within their areas of work.

Editorial Policies:

  • Peer review system

*Books and book chapters will be reviewed by the Editorial Board and academic peers. The arbitration process is anonymous, both for reviewers and authors.

*Each book or book chapter will be reviewed by two specialists in the subject matter of the chapter. If the recommendations of the two evaluators are contradictory, the opinion of a third evaluator will be sought.

*To carry out the evaluation there is a form, which is filled out by the peer evaluators.

*The peer review must conclude with the recommendation to publish, not to publish, or to publish with modifications. The recommendation will be communicated to the authors.

*Within 60 days there must be a response from the evaluation regarding the review of the shipment.

*When the book or book chapter requires modifications, the author will have 10 days to make the adjustments. Again the evaluator will have access to the document for verification, in which case he will have another 10 days.

  • Code of ethics

*In order to guarantee good conduct by all actors involved in the publication process, the publisher complies with international regulations on ethics; in particular to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

  • Plagiarism detection system

*The articles submitted for review will be exposed to similarity analysis using software acquired by the institution, in order to detect matches in the text, showing the sources of the matching content, regardless of language.
